Frequently Asked Questions

Sizing & Fit

How do I find my size?

Each product listing includes a sizing guide specific to that piece. For cuffs, measure the narrowest part of your wrist or ankle and select the size that falls within that range. If you are between sizes, we generally recommend sizing down for a snug fit. There is about 1/4 inch overlap between our sizes.

What if I'm between sizes?

When in doubt, size down. Leather will stretch slightly over time. If you're uncertain, reach out with your measurements and we'll advise.

Can I request custom sizing?

Absolutely! If you fall outside our standard size range, we are happy to make any piece to your exact measurement, usually at no extra charge.

Can I exchange for a different size?

Yes, we offer a one-time size exchange on non-custom pieces, provided the item is unused and returned in its original packaging within 14 days of receipt. See our shipping & returns page for full details.

Our Materials & Process

Are your restraints really handmade?

Yes, we make every piece by hand here in our Denver workshop, starting from whole hides. Every seam is 100% hand stitched. We even dye and condition our leather in-house with a mixture of beeswax and natural oils. It takes 2-5 hours to complete each piece start-to-finish.

What is full-grain leather?

Full-grain leather is the highest quality of leather avaiable, made from the entire top layer of the animal hide. It is remarkably durable and develops a beautful patina over time. Full-grain leather is entirely different from "genuine leather," which has had the top-most grain layer entirely removed.

What does "vegetable-tanned" mean?

Vegetable tanning is the process of turning an animal hide into leather by saturating it with natural plant tannins, usually from tree bark. It is one of the oldest methods of tanning in the world, and produces a tough but flexible leather. Fun fact: tannins are the same compounds that give black tea its dark color.

What actually is suede?

Suede is leather made from the soft underside of an animal hide. Its grain has been buffed to create a plush, velvety texture. We use goatskin suede specfically for its exceptional combination of toughness and softness.

Why do you stitch by hand?

We're glad you asked. The traditional method of hand stitching uses two separate needles to lock each stitch independently, creating a visually striking line of diagonal overlapping stitches. Machines still can't replicate the looks or durability of traditional hand-stitched seams.

Custom Orders

Do you do custom work?

Yes! Whether you're after different leathers, lining colours, hardware finishes, non-standard sizing, or something entirely bespoke — get in touch to start the conversation.

How long do custom orders usually take?

It depends on the complexity of the commission. Simple changes to existing designs (different colour, custom sizing) typically add 2–5 days. Fully bespoke pieces are discussed on a case-by-case basis. We'll give you a clear timeline before any work begins.

Are custom orders refundable?

Custom and bespoke commissions are non-refundable once production has begun. We require a deposit upfront and will confirm details with you before starting work.

Are there any restrictions on custom orders?

We do not work with calf or lambskin, as these materials are sourced from young animals slaughtered specifically for their hides. We will not use these materials for any order, at any price.

Shipping & Orders

How long will my order take?

Many pieces are made to order. Please allow 2–5 business days of production time before dispatch. You'll receive a shipping notification with tracking once your order is on its way.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide with full tracking and insurance. International shipping is calculated at checkout. Customs duties are the responsibility of the recipient.

Is your packaging discreet?

All orders ship in plain, unmarked packaging. There is no external branding and nothing on the outside that identifies the contents."
